Carving a Niche!!

Before I commence.let me drop this

(Niche: Any position of opportunity for which one is well-suited, such as a particular market in business.)

The world is such a dynamic place. Especially for business and careers. Some many years back, Cornelius Vanderbilt made a lot of money with the railway business In the US. Today, Bill gates is filling his shoes in the IT field. Making career and business choices used to be quite easy in the past. You only had to pick one of three fields to be successful. It was either medical science, engineering or law. The case is totally different today.

Ten years ago, there were no jobs with titles like digital marketing, SEO, Front end development, even the Android app development seemed like a foreign word. so things are changing. And things will change again. Internet of things (IoT) and virtual reality(VR) might just be next big thing. One thing still remains, all fields are relevant. A lot of recent graduates, frustrated by the lack decent employment opportunities have decided to go with the flow (a phrase in Nigeria would call them "Anywhere Bele face"). They take up all kinds of jobs. Today they're in sales, tomorrow, engineering and the next, teaching. Can we really blame them. The Nigerian government have proven to be somewhat incompetent in solving the problem of rising unemployment rate.

But then. Everyone i know who is successful in their career or Business has stuck to one skill and has carved a niche in that field. Okay, so someone is looking at this post and thinking, "what is this one saying?". Dangote has several businesses-From cement production to sugar, to even water bottling- and is thriving in all. This is only because he has found his niche- Management. Dangote is an excellent Business manager and so he hires the most experienced people in the various fields he's ventured into and oversees the Business affairs.

There is a "big" difference between experience and 'relevant' experience.nothing beats staying in your lane and keeping your lane yours. Every experience acquired should polish your Core skills. this will go a long way to help you successfully bag jobs and contracts easily in the long run. Don't learn everything, don't be everywhere. One thing to consider when choosing this intended career field should be your "passion and interests" because you don't want to begin to have work burnout just months into the job. What is that one thing you can do for free, volunteer for or maintain an interest in?. Look for the profit making strategies that skill can be applied in, work in that direction for a couple of years. This period is called "the process". In no time, you would have become someone to reckon with in that field.

So stop being a green horn and go do something you love continuously. Don't be a jack of all trades. Read wide, learn everything, and all about the field. Success is guaranteed when you STAY IN YOUR LANE!!

Hope this helps!!

After school, what next??

Getting into college can be considered as an achievement in the life of a young adult, a step in the right direction, a means to achieving set goals and so many other positive things. Secondary school has just ended and there is that feeling of excitement, coupled with uncertainty. This is a new terrain and you are wondering how well you would cope as a student. Alas, you commence your academic programme, and it’s not as bad as you think, no, it is way more exciting. So many cool new friends, you can actually decide not to attend classes. And yes, you have no one controlling you. Wow. “This is going to be one good phase of my life”, you think to yourself. Then examinations approach. You realize you have to study in order to get good grades (Remembering that your dad told you getting a job is impossible without those grades). You dedicate your time to making sure your results come out excellent: you cannot risk not having a job. Your uncle had assured you of giving you a job at that ...

And We're LIVE

THE BUSINESS VIEW  This is just a quick introduction to the blog, The Business View. As the name implies, we'll be talking a lot about business. (now hold on) , do not get bored just immediately. This is not the stock exchange publication or the national budget discussion forum; we have news and TV stations for that. What we'd be seeing more frequently would be highlights of potential business opportunities we may not have put into consideration as we would understudy some of the supposedly successful people in various industries (different kinds of people including some of the celebrities you don't seem to recognize as business people: this was why the word "supposedly" had to be used). The main idea is to motivate every aspiring entrepreneur to chase that big business dream and work towards making them become their story. these are mainly my views and i would be pleased to get your comments as to whether my opinion holds water or not. "NOW BRACE FOR IM...
